It is a rare occasion when we get the opportunity to work with a home owner from the very beginning of a project, through construction of the home to completion. In most circumstances we are usually one of the last builders in the home, because our work involves things that are added on to the design.
In the case of this beautiful pool/sunroom combination, we were asked by the homeowner to suggest a swimming pool that would be appropriate as an indoor pool that could be used for entertainment and for exercise. Our design consultant spent quite a lot of time showing our customer the options, and then suggested it might be very nice if the swimming pool were to be covered with a Four Seasons Sunroom, to open the whole room to the outside and make the swimming area more suitable for play.
With the customer's permission we contacted Glenn Willis, of Coastal Carolina Designs in Oak Island, - www.ccdinc-nc.com - and asked Glenn to envision something that would give our customers the openess they wanted for their home and still maintain the elegance they had planned.
The construction of the home centered on the pool, which had to be built first and the home built around it. The general contractor and Able worked together very closely to ensure a smooth transition from one stage to another. When the walls were completed, the pool was covered and tracks were installed so we might move our scaffolding back and forth to construct the room. Four Seasons provided technical advice and provided an on site expert, to help ensure the roof system was started properly, and Able brought the project to completion
The final results were stunning, and this project was named as one of twelve projects nationwide selected for special recognition, and appeared on the April Cover of Aqua Magazine - You can read the article
